We have a rich and unique national history, our role is to play our part supporting Education Queensland in providing an enhanced understanding and complete picture of our national story and identity.

That’s why in 1997, with the vision to steer students to visit Outback Queensland to experience first hand their rich outback heritage, The Australian Workers Heritage Centre formed a unique partnership with Education Queensland and established “Wanpa-rda Matilda” a multi faceted outback education centre.

Since then, this first class excursion facility the first of its kind in Central Western Queensland has given thousands of students the chance to explore and experience this remarkable part of Australia’s outback, learning through interactive and positive experiences rather than text books alone.
