The newly refurbished Kunwarara Railway Station was built in 1915 and relocated to the Australian Workers Heritage Centre in 1994.
The Railway precinct comprises the original station, platform, loading crane and a workers' campervan carriage from that era. The exhibition tells the story of Australian railway workers and passengers and the future of rail in Queensland.
Visiting children have been enjoying the educational children’s board game called the “Barcy Express” which has been developed within the display to illustrate the hazards and triumphs of a rail trip in 1915. Work has also been undertaken to upgrade the workers’ campervan carriage.
